Writing

Have an idea you want to share, but can’t quite find the words? Need a creative way to tell the story of your business? Whether you need marketing copy, creative storytelling, or technical descriptions, I’m ready to write! See my publications here.

Brand Content & Marketing Copy
Written materials for your business or organization need to match your unique voice. I take time with each of my clients to learn their style and voice so the marketing content I write stays authentic and on-brand. I’ve written:

  • SEO blogs & product reviews

  • Website copy, e-newsletters, & social media posts

  • Press releases & program success stories

  • Case statements, brochures, & other marketing collateral

Some of my clients have included Seal Line, Gossamer Gear, Oru Kayak, Feathered Friends, and more. I also have a particular interest in working with mission-driven nonprofits, and have been fortunate to partner with Project Community Connections, Inc. in Atlanta on materials for its capital campaign, as well as thought leadership pieces for Classy.

Technical Writing
With 8+ years of background as a government contractor, I get really nerdy about good technical writing. You can see some of my technical writing projects linked in the editing column on this page, and I’m always happy to provide additional clips. If you have a report, process document, or other technical writing needs, let’s partner on creating clear, concise copy.

Journalism & Creative Storytelling
I’ve written and reported on everything from second-career ranger retirees and off-trail caving to effective communication about homelessness and nationwide impacts of innovative housing programs. I have particular interest in stories on travel, environmental advocacy, local businesses, and social good. I’ve been a staff writer for Misadventures Magazine and a regional writer for The Dyrt Magazine. I also have bylines in Fodor’s Travel, Sierra Magazine, Shelterforce Magazine, and Adventure Journal, among others.

Editing

Have you ever been researching a company for services you need and gotten distracted by the typos on their website? Have you had to pull together a large report with multiple authors and questioned whether you’ve maintained a consistent style? These are just a couple of examples that can benefit from a passionate editor, and I’d love to support you in those finishing touches!

I have provided editing and proofreading services for memos and research reports for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, checking for consistent style, reworking passive voice, and completing a line-by-line review for errors.

I have also co-authored, edited, and designed reports, user guides, and success stories for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. You can take a look at some of that work here, here, here, and here.

In addition, I’ve spent the past 3+ years as the Managing Editor for the Gossamer Gear blog, Light Feet. In this role, I solicit and edit guest posts, create on-brand content, review materials for search engine optimization, and ensure consistent formatting in WordPress.

I am a big fan of the editing process because it is a chance to really make your work shine, whether that’s updating your web copy for greater engagement or ensuring your annual report heads off to your stakeholders error-free.

I offer a range of editing services to make your content ready for its audience, including:

  • Proofreading

  • Copy editing

  • Reviews of process documents for clarity

  • Style and formatting consistency checks

  • Editorial calendar management

  • Guest blog editing

Client Testimonials

Wondering what it would be like to work with me? Here are a few words from some of my clients.

Korrin is an incredible editor. I engaged her on a project that she had no previous knowledge of, and she was thoughtful, detail-oriented, and thorough. She did her research to familiarize herself with the topic, was sure not to change the intent of any of the sentences, and went beyond basic copy editing to provide comments and questions to ensure that we had the best document possible. She was excellent across methodology sections, literature reviews, and research findings – she clearly felt comfortable in the research space. I would highly recommend her for any editing or reviewing needs – she truly is excellent and an asset to any project.
— Alicia Sparks, PhD, Associate at Abt Associates
Korrin works incredibly well with our team and is able to adapt to our ever-changing editorial calendar and last-minute copywriting needs. She brings an insightful approach to our company’s blog articles and has been an integral part of our readership growth and success. Korrin has been able to turn out consistently cohesive stories that are in line with our brand values and keep our customers engaged.
— Jonathan Schmid, Vice President at Gossamer Gear
Korrin is the kind of writer editors dream of—and I was lucky enough to work with her for over two years at Misadventures Magazine, an outdoor and adventure magazine for women—because she’s both independent and collaborative. More than any other writers I worked on stories with, she was self-directed from the pitch phase through to the final edits. She was always open to critical feedback at any stage, and she takes her craft seriously enough to want the best work every time. Where many writers were clearly juggling too many projects, Korrin was always organized, focused, mature, and on-time. That’s not to say that she plays it safe; what I love about her is she’s always ready to take risks with her writing and storytelling. Not only that, but she’s a talented photographer. I never worried about sending Korrin on a story because I knew that she’d come back with an insightful portrait, a great angle, a compelling story, and beautiful photos. Her series on Urban Parks was one of our longest-running and most popular because it showcased hidden gems in our readers’ cities and put a twist on living an adventurous life. I have no doubt that Korrin will continue to produce thoughtful journalism, and I will never hesitate to recommend her.
— Zoe Balaconis, Senior Editor at Misadventures Magazine
Korrin is one of those rare writers who doesn’t simply complete assignments; she runs with them and comes back with what I had hoped for and more. She isn’t afraid to dig deeper with the topics she’s assigned, and she brings lots of creativity and expertise on topics of her own. Korrin is a breeze to edit, a delight to work with, and a talented writer who consistently impresses and inspires me.
— Britany Robinson, Managing Editor at The Dyrt
Working with Korrin was a real pleasure. She brought everything to our fledgling artist-in-residence program that I could have hoped for by seeking out and embracing the things that make the Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve special. The podcast she created about the cave conveyed a deep connection to the solemn quiet darkness within the mountain. Her writing wonderfully captured the feelings of wonder that accompany exploration of the dense old growth forest that grows above the cave. I’m sure she will continue to find what is special in all the places she explores.
— George Herring, Chief of Interpretation and Education at Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve
